The Cherry Bar- AC/DC Lane Melbourne City.

The Cherry Bar in Melbourne Central is a great little Indy Rock Club that hosts the finest in local & International Indy Rock, Metal, Blues, Punk and other alternative Guitar Music styles. They have their own Cherry Fest early each May where the entire AC/DC lane is closed & full of people watching some incredible Alternative Rock over 2 Stages. Main stage in the lane and Stage 2 inside the Bar. Richie Ramone headlined the 2016 Fest.
The Cherry Bar is the solitary building in AC/DC lane which is tucked away in the top end of Melbourne City  near Russell St. The Cherry Bar describes itself as an-  Iconic, raucous, laneway Bar hosting a lineup of local and International rock ‘n’ roll acts.
Kate & I visited one of the Cherry Bar’s Blues afternoons that are on most Sundays from 3PM to 6PM. We took a nice wheelchair friendly train ride into Flinders St Station and worked our way up a couple of streets to find the classic AC/DC lane.
The Blues afternoon had a very relaxing and friendly atmosphere with about 40 people in attendance on the afternoon. The lane & Bar has great access for wheelchairs & excellent disabled bathroom facilities. The hallway to the bathrooms however is a little thin & difficult to manoeuvre through.
We sat back & enjoyed some rockin’ Blues standards with a drink & were served a plate of free chilli bean bake. Hot stuff, but burnt well with the burnon’ Blues tunes pumped out by a Band of Aussies Blues masters!
There were 2 other people there in electric wheelchairs & so people a lot more disabled than I am. It is great to be in a venue that caters for people with wheelchair restricting conditions!
Visiting The Cherry Bar is well worth the visit on a Sunday afternoon if you love your Blues Music like I do whilst enjoying a relaxing afternoon of smiles & dancing.
The Cherry Bar is definitely a great destination if you are in Melbourne visiting in a wheelchair & looking to see some of the best entertainment this city has to offer. Check on Google for concerts and event information.
Blessing To All.
